I don't know honestly, if I've blogged this yet or not. I've written hundreds of posts in my head as I drove cross country, and in fact over the last few weeks, but few if any actually hit the airwaves for various reasons.
The mantra I've been playing in my head, over and over for weeks, maybe months...is There are NO Cats in America and the streets are paved with Cheese. It's a song from Fieval Goes West you can you tube it...but basically Feival thinks when he moves from Russia to America all his problems will miraculously be solved. That's pretty much how I felt about moving to CA.
It's not entirely true of course, but it is alot better here on several levels already. For one thing, I'm not terrified to leave my house. For another thing, it' hasn't rained ONCE since I've been here...you know...all of three whole days! I can hardly believe it...THREE WHOLE DAYS WITHOUT RAIN!!!!! *AND*** to top it all off? No humidity! I can breathe Peeps! I can breathe without aid of my inhaler!!!! And air conditioner? Haven't needed it once! I just open the windows and put on a sweater...I get fresh air, can breath, can wear the same clothes for one whole day without soaking them within the first 10 minutes, and did I mention I can breathe????
Oh and the SUNSHINE! My house on one side is pretty much mostly all windows top to bottom and the sun streams in. It streams in my bedroom, my craft room, my office, my family room, my breakfast nook, my kitchen, and my living room! It's bright! no more feeling like I live in a dank man cave!
I have left my house every day, several times on some days and have been able to find my way around without using my Lorlor...can you EVEN believe that?? I can't. Everything is VERY close to my house, traffic where I need to go so far is darn near non-existant so I don't feel like I'm taking my life in my hands every time I have to go to the store. Which is often since we don't have a fridge yet.
Speaking of which, how weird is that? Houses here, VERY FEW came with fridge's ...so we have to go buy one. And of course, I'm at someones mercy to deliver it....so every time I want to drink we have to drive to the gas station/mini mart. Can you say DP withdrawals? and of course, no pots and pans, no household goods, no fridge, equals eating out every day and every night. That my friends, gets old! And I'm quite sure the staff at Panera, though immensely friendly, cringe when they see me coming with my laptop! LOL
My house is getting recarpeted next Friday so I can't even order my furntiture till then. I've tried callign to set up a time with them, but of course, no answer so more sleeping on the air matress for at least another 2 weeks. It's looking like when they DO come to deliver, I get to do that on my own. Such is the navy life...The Cat In The Hat was home for the packout which was more important to me than the delivery so I wont' complain too much. Hopefully we'll buy a fridge and pots and pans on Saturday so I can at least start cooking a bit at home...I'll get phone and internet and TV on Tuesday so no more camping out at Panera for an hours worth of internet.
I'm losing train of thought again...I have a social gathering for DH's boat on Saturday evening and no clothes that don't look WELL TRAVELED or pants that will stay up so I have to hit the store this afternoon and see if I can find some pants that will keep my coin slot covered for the evening. Either that or I buy a pair of boxers and go Teen Boy Fashion...that'll be a big hit I'm sure!
Thing One will be house sitting for some friends for two weeks, so that'll save some of my sanity. I was *THIS CLOSE* to kicking him out of my car in Memphis, and even closer in Tucson. I do believe I've used the phrase "my house/car, my rules, you will talk to me with respect, I'm your mother not your friend, if you don't like it, get the hell out!" at least once daily since last Friday. Apparently someone forgot to CC the boy that the world revolves around ME not him.
Thing Two is another story entirely.
Side note: I'm loving Kings of Leon right now....
Ok...that's all I got for now. I get internet in my house on Tuesday so I'll be able to be online from the comfort of my living room floor for as long as I want then! Yay for that!

So you can't keep DP in ICE in a COOLER in your HOUSE?
Or even beer or mojitos for that matter.
just sayin'.
I am having Stacie withdrawl...glad to read this post!
So glad you are safe and as for not using the Lor Lor...uh yea' sell it somewhere else sister! Big faker!
I can't imagine not having a refrigerator in a new house...
Did y'all buy or rent?
M~
Have you considered an ice chest...with the essentials..DP, wine, beer???
Yep. There must be some unwritten rule in The Southland (you must refer to the greater area stretching all the way north to me as The Southland... I think that's a rule too)... that fridges are not included in rentals. Hope you love CA. :)
